Frequently Asked Questions

  • Psychotherapy, or talk-based therapy is the process of working with a trained therapist who uses therapeutic interventions to support you through your emotional difficulties and meeting your wellness goals. This can include challenges in coping with daily life, exploring and understanding the impact of trauma, loss, anxiety, depression, difficult experiences or life transitions.

Psychotherapy can be short-term (a few sessions) or long-term (months or years). The goals of treatment are planned collaboratively between the client and therapist.

  • Brainspotting is a neuroscience-informed, brain-based therapy that targets the brain’s natural healing mechanisms. Using specific eye positions and focused mindfulness, the therapist works with the client’s brain, mind and body. Brainspotting provides access to both brain and body processes, to go deeper into the subcortical emotional parts of the brain. It is used with clients with anxiety, phobias, depression, somatic pain and those who have experienced trauma and pain. Brainspotting can also be used to find and strengthen one’s natural resources and resilience.
